People from all walks of life comprising of locals and foreigners journey to this neighbourhood to experience the authentic Malay food. Businesses that thrive during the day include textile shops, shoe menders and stores that sell daily provisions. People make their way to these shops to employ services and consume food which are most often reasonably priced.

 

 

 

 

 

 

During the day, the streets are seemingly deserted but as dusk begins to fall, the whole stretch of Jalan Raja Muda Musa is converted into a market street where vendors erect their makeshift stalls to peddle food of a delectable traditional Malay cuisine. Street food such as apam balek, putu piring, satay, kerepok lekor and a variety of Malay dishes can be found along the street. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Pasar Malam or Night Market is a weekly weekend occurrence along Jalan Raja Muda Musa. Dozens of vendors set up their stalls and tourists and locals flock to this night market not only to experience the local food flavor but also to experience the street life and culture of the Kampung Bharu residents. Located along one of the alleys along Jalan Raja Muda Musa is a mini cultural centre where residents are able to organize small concerts and performances for the viewing pleasure of the patrons of the night market.
