Jalan Raja Muda Musa
KAMPUNG BARU
The dilution of the culture and society of the people along Jalan Raja Muda Musa is a mark of the urbanization of Kuala Lumpur into a 21st century metropolis. From the country’s British colonial masters who moved Malays into this area, away from their agricultural lands, to protect the Malay ethnic group since they could not adapt to the rapid growth and changing environments in the city. Till today, the colonial-era laws govern the site thus, keeping the emphasis on Malay nationalism high.
Residents of Jalan Raja Muda Musa exude humility in their daily lives. Since Kampung Bharu was founded on a Malay settlement, the spirit of ‘gotong royong’ is evident when one experiences the street culture in this area.
